Nelsonville Music Festival

Jeweled Dragons

Join the Naturalist for a closer look at Hocking’s not-so-mythical dragonflies & damselflies. These flying, crawling & swimming insects lead an amazing life that we can peek in on. Cruise Hocking Car Show & Street Party

Downtown Gazebo, Logan, 5 p.m.

Come party with us as we closed down the streets of Logan. Classic, collector and sports cars of all types will be on display all along Main Street. Listen to the sounds of Gas Pump Jockeys, playing classics from the 50′, 60’s, & 70’s at the Gazebo in Worthington Park. If you miss us Friday come to our “Show and Shine” event on Saturday at the Hocking Hills Dining Lodge. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Hocking Hills. Come and see something off the beaten path. Join us for a hike through Old Man’s Cave to the little visited Broken Rock Falls and see what makes this place so special. Get Out and Grill Cooking Class

Shaw’s Restaurant and Inn, 123 North Broad Street, Lancaster, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

As summer approaches, we are offering a class on grilling. The menu includes Thai grilled beef skirt steak with chile basil and peanut sauces, grilled homemade naan, buttermilk cake with local strawberries in port wine syrup. Classes are held in our studio on the third floor of the Inn and end with lunch paired with an optional glass of wine and a typed set of recipes for you to take home. Full Moon Night Hike

Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve, 7000 Beach Camp Rd, Logan, 8 – 11 p.m.

Come experience how the other half lives… the nocturnal half that is. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources- Division of Natural Areas and Preserves invites you to join us as we attempt to traverse the entire 3.5-mile trail system at Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve without lights. The moon will light our way as we discover the forest at night. Owls, frogs, coyotes and bats will be our guides through this unfamiliar world.

 

Wear appropriate clothing for the weather and remember temperatures can drop substantially in May after sunset. Trail can be rough, uneven, steep, and slick in some areas so sturdy footwear is a must. Bring a flashlight or headlamp but be prepared not to use them. Third Annual Monday Creek Canoe Float

Hocking Parkway Canoe Put-in, Nelsonville, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The day will include a six-mile float on the Hocking River.  You’ll enjoy a locally-sourced river-side picnic including food from Chesterhill Produce Auction, Mt. Airy Beef, Frog Ranch, and Shagbark. This are interactive stream and wildlife activities for all ages, plus a stop at the mouth of Monday Creek to discuss restoration success.

 

Meet at the Hocking Parkway canoe put-in (on Hocking Parkway at the Bridge over the Hocking River in Nelsonville). The float will end at Fast Traxx Motoplex off  of St Rt 33.
