Prairie Butterfly Walk with Appalachia Ohio Alliance

Intersection of Rockbridge A Road and US Highway 33, Rockbridge, 10 a.m. – 12 noon

Enjoy a summertime walk through the prairie habitats on AOA’s Demonstration Site while viewing and learning about butterflies and their habitat needs. Meet at the kiosk on Rockbridge A Road and look for the AOA tent.  Park in the parking area or along the roadway. We expect the walk to last for approximately 2 hours. Bug repellant is advisable.  Please bring your own drinks and/or snacks. Water will be available. Nothing brings out the kid in all of us like catching insects. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources – Division of Natural Areas and Preserves invites you and your family to do just that. Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve holds a variety of species of these mosquito eating warriors. Armed with nets, your kids (and you), will help us catch and identify these picnic saviors. Children of all ages encouraged to attend. We will meet at the public trailhead and take a ¼-mile hike to the pond. There are no facilities available at the trailhead.
