Hocking River Canoe Float and Mussel Survey with AOA

Float the Hocking River and help look for native mussel populations. View the valley from the river and learn about the Hocking River water quality and conditions.  Help look for and learn about native Hocking River mussels with Mac Albin, aquatic ecologist for Columbus Metro Parks and a local mussel expert. This is a working trip – we plan to go slow and stop frequently to search for mussels. This trip is a benefit for AOA sponsored by Fox’s Hocking Hills Canoe Livery. COST: $25 per person.

All Caboose Train
Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, 33 W. Canal Street, Nelsonville, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
For the All Caboose Train, we will pull all of the cabooses that are privately-owned as each owner allows and operate our annual all-caboose. Usually we have about five cabooses in the train. Departing the Nelsonville Depot at 11 a.m., the train operates to East Logan and returns with photo run-by’s where everyone has the opportunity to de-train and photograph the train passing by before re-boarding along the way. The train also includes a 30-minute stop at Robbins Crossing, a re-created 1850s-era Ohio pioneer village located on the campus of Hocking College. Seating is incredibly limited each caboose holds no more than ten people — some are fewer than that, so be sure to reserve your seat as soon as possible. A great trip for any rail fan.
